Island 178 out now!
Island 178 comes to you from the depths of an island winter, Jon Kudelka’s robin on our cover a flash of colour in a landscape of misty, drizzly greys. It’s the best time of year for reading. Between these pages, Jonno Revanche will deposit you in the glaring sunlight and cultural complexities of a Greek nude beach; Sue Pedley embarks for Japan amid a crew of 19th century mutinying convicts; Indigo Bailey looks for the perfect paparazzi shot on the island of Stromboli; and Eartha Davis is ‘huddled inside honeysuckle / made house of moving mountains’. Will any of it help you escape your own life? Perhaps: as David Gor tells us, ‘Reading across time is its own kind of travel, not into landscapes but into alternative configurations of consciousness’.
